Warmth!!!!

February 29, 2016

This week has been a pretty good one hear in NE!! The other day it was over 70 degrees. Crazy right?? I haven't even had to wear tights lately! Other than my blinding white legs, it has been a great, new sensation!!

Honestly, I couldn't even believe when I woke up this morning and realized it was Preparation Day. This week went by crazy fast! Something cool that happened this week was our Trainer/Trainee meeting. President Gardner has a meeting for all of the Trainers and their Trainees from all over the mission. It was a really spiritually uplifting experience. I learned a lot about ignoring the adversary, and focusing on the spirit. Missionary or not, I think that principle applies to all of us. :) "Everything Good Comes From God".

This week we had an awesome Missionary Musical Fireside! Since The Book of Mormon Musical on Broadway is starting to show in Omaha, we decided to put on our own Book of Mormon musical. The "REAL" Book of Mormon Musical. I was able to sing in it, along with many others. It's whole purpose was to show non-members what the church truly believes in, through song. Wow, it was an amazing experience. I bet every single person in that audience felt the spirit.

Our investigator, Dean, is progressing! Slowly... But surely! He still has struggles, but he knows that once he receives the knowledge that these things are true, then all of his worries about the church wont seem so big. He came to church yesterday and had a great experience. Everything talked about was everything that he needed to hear. The spirit is so cool :)

Other than the fact that I got winked at by a creepy worker at Arby's, that pretty much sums up my week!! Firesides, Dean, Music, and the SPIRIT.

I love you all! Thank you for all of the support and emails. :) Feel free to send me letters too! Those are nice to get throughout the week, because I can actually read them other than a Monday. :)

Love,

Sister Missy Hutchison

ps. The pics were taken yesterday at the Trail Center with most of the Sisters I serve with, and my favorite Senior Couple, the Tervorts. They go home next week, I am pretty depressed about it.... Oh, and I know you all like the ugly picture. Yes, all of the TC sisters are pretty... Pretty Gross... I LOVE THEM

NE Rules

February 22, 2016

Hello Family and Friends!

This week was pretty great. Nothing too exciting happened. Don't worry, I didn't do anything too drastic this week.

This week we actually had Zone Conference. It was so amazing. The focus was the Atonement. It was so special. The Sprit taught me so many things. One of the main things the spirit taught me about the Atonement of Jesus Christ is that it was all out of love. God loves us so much that He sent Jesus Christ. Not only does He love us enough to have Jesus Christ suffer for our sins, but he loves us enough to have Jesus Christ suffer for everything we have ever felt. He loves us so much that we will ALWAYS have someone who understands, and so we would never be alone. I found so much comfort learning those amazing things. I would encourage you to read through Alma 7:11-13, and add your own name in place of "His People". It truly makes the scriptures speak more personally to you, and you will gain a greater understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Also at Zone Conference, we had a clean car competition! Our whole zone met early that morning at a car wash, and deep cleaned. (Not to mention we spent all of our P-Day last week deep cleaning). It was so fun. We took 2nd Place! So we were awarded 30 extra miles on our car for the month of February. Which is nice.. Because we were cutting it very very close...

Each week when we are on shift at the Trail Center, we are able to go do service at this Retirement home next door. This week we did service for this woman named Blaze. She had us sort clothes. Let's just say she is a massive hoarder, and it made me physically ill being in her house. Blaze has a super huge, gross, mean parrot. I have never felt fear like that on my mission while I was in the same room as that parrot. It kept squawking at me, and watching my every move. It would also sharpen its beak while watching me, and mimic me. It didn't help when Blaze would say "Yes, she bites". Then she would makes me walk past it. Dear Mom, thank you for never letting me get a Parrot when I wanted one. They are the scariest things alive. I hate parrots.

Everything in my area is going pretty good! Courtney is doing great, and received a calling in the Relief Society Enrichment Committee. She is so excited, and she got sustained yesterday in Sacrament meeting. Our investigator, Dean, is doing pretty great as well. Still very factual and skeptical, but we can tell he is softening.

Thank you all for all of the emails this week. I appreciate it so much. I love you all. :) Remember to pray often and continually be doing things that will strengthen your testimony. I have seen so many blessings by doing so. THE CHURCH IS TRUE

Love,
Sister Missy Hutchison

ps. I have been our 4 months!! Crazy, right?? Here is a pic of the Nebrasquad :) We took two 4 months pictures.... I couldn't decide which one I liked more, so I will send em' both!!

6 Inches!!!!!

February 16, 2016

Hello Everyone!!

Wow, it has been a good week here in Omaha! First of all, I am sorry that I wasn't able to email yesterday! It was Presidents Day, as you all may know, so the library we email at was closed!! But it is okay, because we can email today.

Before I even get into my week, I want to congratulate Scotty and Jamie on baby Trey!!!!! I CAN FINALLY SAY I HAVE A NEPHEW! WOOT WOOT!!! On Tuesday morning, I don't know why, but I felt prompted to go to the mission office. So we came up with an excuse and went over there. When I got there, Sister Cope (one of the Senior missionaries) pulled me into her office. She showed me the heartbreaking letter my mom sent me about the problems that happened during the baby delivery. I want you all to know that every single prayer said by Sister Hall and I mentioned Scotty, Jamie, Kaylee and Trey. The members I saw that day were going to the temple, so I wrote down all of their names and gave them to him. I saw that member a couple days later and he said he went to the temple twice, and put their names in both times. After a lot of prayers and fasting, I found out that baby Trey and Jamie were okay. I love you guys so much. I just had to let you know that I did the best that I could while being out here for you. :)

This week consisted of being at the Trail Center quite a bit, and trying people on our list. We had many member lessons, and those are always great :) On Friday night, they had a fireside at the Trail Center, and I was able to go! The speaker was a Holocaust survivor, so it was really sad/inspiring to hear her story. I was able to talk to her afterwards and give her a big hug!

Courtney and Luca are doing great. Courtney got her temporary Temple Recommend, so we are hoping to be able to go with her sometime this week!!! She is so amazing. I can't even handle it.

Sister Hall and I had a cool experience yesterday! We tracted into a man a few weeks ago named Dean. He was very touched by the Restoration and said to come back in a couple weeks, because he would be out of town. Randomly, at the EXACT same time, we both looked at each other and mentioned how we should see him. It was weird. So we knew it was a sign! It was about 8:40, so we were glad we had some time. So we decided to grab Plan of Salvation pamphlets and knock on his door. He answered and let us in with open arms. He informed us he is halfway though the Book of Mormon, and knows that man could NOT have written it. It lead for an awesome opportunity for us to bear testimony of the Book of Mormon, and that it is from God. He then randomly asked us about Heaven and Hell. Ironically enough (it wasn't ironic, it was the spirit), we both had decided to grab Plan of Salvation pamphlets. It was such a cool discussion. He is skeptical of a few things, but we were able to set up a time to meet with him this week. We are excited to properly study according to his needs. He's an awesome guy. AND HE HAS A GOLDEN DOODLE. Tender Mercy. (Sorry, Dad. I know you hate that term)

You are probably curious about my subject line. No, it did not snow 6 inches. It has actually been in the 50's outside!! I did something drastic, and cut 6 inches off of my hair. Chopped it right off. Wow, I should have done this earlier. I am obsessed. I had Sister Hall take an awkward picture of me so I could show you all.

I love you all so much!!!!! Thanks for everything you all do for me.

Love,

Sister Hutchison

I'M A MOM

February 8, 2016

Hello Family and Friends,

This week has been so crazy!!! Wow. Where do I begin??

I'll start with Courtney and Luca's baptism. It was so great :) the spirit was so strong. Sister Brower and I were able to do a few musical numbers! Her husband, Thierry, also played the piano! So it was so special. I will add some pictures to this email. But Courtney and Luca got confirmed yesterday. It was so special. Courtney was bragging the night before about how she bought a brand new dress for the confirmation. She is the best, ugh I love her with all of my heart.

Sister Brower left me on Tuesday. That was just about the hardest thing in the world. It didn't help that our cars were grounded the. whole. day. So me and another sister whose companion went home, sat and sobbed in my apartment for a good hour. We were temporary companions for a couple of days, so I was able to cover the YSA ward with her! It was so fun. I loved teaching people my own age. You can connect so much better! It was awesome. :)

This week was transfers! Thursday morning I got a call from President Gardner, telling me I was training a new missionary. (in missionary lingo a "mom" is a trainer. Just thought I should explain subject line). It is definitely a weird transition going straight from "trainee" to "trainer". But, things are going great! I picked up my new companion on Friday morning. her name is Sister Hall. She is way cool! She is my age, and she is from St. George! We have a lot in common, and we get along great. :) Training is kind of stressful though.. I wake up every morning and think "oh good, I kept her alive for another day". Is that was having a baby is like??

Sorry this email is short. My week was hectic, but it was all because of transfers. I just need to take a 12 hour nap and then I should be good to go.

I love you all so much. Thanks for all you do! I'll talk to ya next week. :)

Love,
Sister Hutchison

I LOVE NE

Hello Family and Friends!!

I don't even know how to explain my week. Wow.

Well, was my last week with Sister Brower. So, I am really sad. She leaves me tomorrow and goes home on Wednesday. For next few days I will be temporarily companions with a Sister whose companion also goes home, then we will get our official companions on Friday. I am nervous, but excited at the same time!!

This week we had a cool missionary musical fireside. Missionaries were able to sign up for a musical number, and lots of people came! Both members and non-members. It was awesome :) Sister Brower and I did a musical number as well. I sang and she played "Be Still, My Soul".

I know all of you are curious about Courtney. But no, she did not get baptized on Saturday.... But..... SHE IS GETTING BAPTIZED TONIGHT. IN LIKE 3 HOURS. We had amazing lessons with her this week, but she still was waiting for the reassurance from her husband. We had a strong impression she would be baptized, but we just had to trust the Lord. We knew even if it took a long time, she would be baptized eventually. They came to the musical fireside and loved it. Then on Saturday night they fed us dinner. During dinner, Courtney turned to her 9 year old son, Luca (whom we used to teach. He was set or baptism but didn't receive support from his dad), and she said "Luca, have you told the Sisters our news?" Luca then turned to us and said "Me and my mom are going to get baptized." SISTER BROWER AND I JUST ABOUT DIED. They were going to do it next Saturday, but since Sister Brower is leaving tomorrow, we got special permission to do it tonight while she is still here!!! I have had the butterflies all day long. Since her husband is a classical pianist, he is going to play some primary songs for us to sing at the baptism. Then, Courtney requested to hear "Be Still, My Soul" again at the baptism, because it's her favorite. As soon as we left their house that night we called President Gardner and just cried because we felt so blessed. He interviewed the both of them last night. Courtney walked out of the interview just in tears because she "was so happy". This is why I am on a mission. If she is the last baptism I have, I don't even care. Her and Luca are 100% worth it. Sister Brower and I have struggled quite a bit in our area, but now I know why. Heavenly Father was truly just testing our faith, to see if we were worthy of this miracle. I grew such a strong testimony about putting all of your trust in the Lord, and His timing.

Needless to say, I woke up this morning on Cloud 9. At Walmart they were playing James Taylor over the speakers and I couldn't help but smile, because I knew that was another sign that it would be a great day. I even saw my mom's perfume on a shelf and made sure to smell it, which made me even happier.

Well, I love you all so much. Sorry if my email is kind of scattered, my mind is kind of jumbled right now. I cant wait to hear from you all next week!!! I will make sure to give you all of the details and pictures of the baptism. :)

Love,
Sister Missy Hutchison

ps. I know you are all curious what Courtney looks like so here are some pics!! These were both taken on Saturday, after she told us she was getting baptized.

Me and Courtney. Ahhh I love her.

Us 3 under a beautiful picture of Christ that hangs in her house. Don't mind my mega-cheesy smile. That just explains how I was feeling in that moment.

an awesome member family we had dinner with, the Stouts :)

A guy in our ward and his father! We are starting to teach is father on Friday, he isn't a member and has Alzheimer's. He is the sweetest.

I look crazy, but Sis. Brower celebrated our happiness with Thai food.
